The new SEAT Leon e-Hybrid has won Driving Electric's Award for best small Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle or (PHEV) 2021. Its battery can charge automatically but you can also charge the battery by plugging it in. The electric motor is used first when in motion and will only resort to the petrol engine for extra power.
This latest addition to the Leon family combines a 1.4 TSI petrol engine with an electric motor and six-speed DSG transmission, resulting in a total power output of 204PS and a 0-62mph time of 7.5 seconds.
Power is supplied to the electric motor through a 13kWh lithium-ion battery which is recharged with a 3.6kW AC inlet. This enables the Leon e-HYBRID to be fully charged from zero per cent in less than four hours with a home wallbox charger.
The Leon e-Hybrid, available in hatchback and estate versions, has an electric-only range of 36 miles, enabling it to be driven with zero tailpipe emissions – ideal for urban environments with strict air quality regulations.
The four trims available are the FR, FR Sport, XCELLENCE, XCELLENCE Lux and the launch exclusive premium 'First Edition'.
